October 22nd: Former Saturday Night Live personality Rachel Dratch recorded at The Cutting Room Studios working on a pilot with Keith “Toofer” Powell from 30 rock. Tony Gillis mastering spanish electro/pop group Pastora.
October 20th: Brooklyn based Garage Rock duo Sisters is loading in. Their exclusive recording session at The Cutting Room Studios is being broadcast live at 6pm on KEXP Radio. Make sure and tune in.
October 19th: This morning The Cutting Room Studios welcomes indie pop group Smoosh. The all girl group formed in Seattle and now currently resides in Stockholm. Make sure to tune in to our exclusive session with Smoosh today at 12noon. The session is being broadcast on KEXP radio (itunes radio under eclectic) as part of CMJ week. Later today we have a brooklyn based garage rock duo “Sisters” in the studio, stay tuned for more throughout the day.

October 18th: The Cutting Room Studios has partnered up with KEXP radio to bring you some great music this week for CMJ. Today we are recording WE ARE AUGUSTINES, which will be broadcast live at 11am (thats now!). Tomorrow we are bringing you two amazing bands Smoosh and Sisters. October 15th: We are rockin CMJ next week with live broadcasting on KEXP Radio both monday and tuesday. A unique collaboration between African and European musicians, Burkina Electric is a group of six performers, singers and dancers from Burkina Faso, Germany and Austria — all now based primarily in New York City. Led by composer Lukas Ligeti, the band performs for KEXP.

February 11: Congolese vocalist/band leader Samba Mapangala and Chicago’s Occidental Brothers Dance Band Int’l team up for this sublime set of classic African dance music recorded live at the Cutting Room in NYC.
February 9: Last summer Producer Ted Mason visited The Cutting Room Studios to record and mix tracks for an HBO documentary titled “Music By Prudence”. This documentary was just nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Documentary: Short Subject. Congrats to Ted and Cutting Room Studios Staff Engineer Joe Colmenero for the win!

January 28: This week Mos Def collaborated with producer Bryan Ellis and Jeymes Samuel (Seal’s brother) into the wee hours of the morning in Studio A. It was great to have this crew back who spent some time here last fall. We have also been busy designing custom websites for some New York based artists with our in-house Web/Visual designer Jeff Schram.
